Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan stated that Ankara could “part ways” with the European Union if necessary. The Turkish President was asked about the contents of European Parliament’s report.

“The EU is making efforts to sever ties with Turkey,” Tayyip Erdogan told reporters before departing for the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The report, adopted earlier this week, noted that Turkey’s accession process with the bloc “cannot resume under current circumstances”.

The EU Parliament called for the Brussels to explore “a parallel and realistic framework” for its ties with Ankara.
